Life in Lucknow Is Leisure and Fun Beyond Stereotypes

Image
"Let me Live Lucknow Life For Leisure and Luxury" For some, who travels the destinations, talking about their own town or city is demeaning. However, I find it even more satisfying to unveil the hidden gems of my hometown; especially, if the name of the city is Lucknow . The history of the city has always been talked about but rarely have seen people talking about the present-day culture of the city,  except gigantic parks of political influence. For those unaware souls, I introduce current state of the social affair through my today's SLOW. The Lucknow has always been known for celebrating life beyond religious bias. Lucknow Mahotsav is one magnanimous and magnificent example of social harmony that Lucknow is the epitome of.  This year there were several changes made with regards to Lucknow Mohatsav. Changes in the name of the so-called developments. The essence of Mohatsav seemed to have faded to me, which should ring alarm bells in the administrative circles. However,

SLOW - The Transformation

Image
Homecoming for a traveler is always a wonderful experience. Why? Because it is after I return from my travel escapade, I realize what a wonderful time I had during my last trip. Also what made me chose this picture as the #SLOW; Spotlight Of The Week , was the extensive transformation Lucknow has gone through in the past decade. The development of the infrastructure, the roads, and the budding entertainment culture in the city made me ardent to go on a street walk one fine day. I did not set any theme in my mind before stepping out from my house, what I usually do. I took my camera and kick-started my journey to capture some beautiful moments and frames. I went form Old Lucknow to the new one. Definitely the archaeological wonders of Lucknow left me spellbound like any traveler and I was happy to capture certain frames, which were unknown to me before. Glad I wet on this street walk journey! Later in the night when I came by this view of Marine Drive on my way to home. The co

Traveler's Diary: Put Your Phone Down, Please.

Traveling   or no Traveling Breakfast is one meal that I used to often skip. Why? I am just like most of you, sleeping late, waking up with an annoying alarm clock. By the time I wake up the time of breakfast is either gone, or I do not feel like eating anything! I guess this is the youngster syndrome I am suffering from. Do you too? “With time being, I have realized one thing I have made the poorest decision of choosing sleep over breakfast, every time.”  Indiscipline life, excessive social media usage, and a large period of time spent on the phone. Reading this statement, you might feel I am talking like your mother and would remind you of the memes trolling about mom's relating every other thing to your "Phone". I too have spent hours laughing on such memes and have a great time reading them even today. However, recently while I was on a solo trip an incident took place, which forced me to think about my irregular schedule.  While I was on my Solo Tr

The British Residency -The Ruins of The Archaeological Wonder

Image
"Poetry and Flamboyant Words won’t ever be enough to Admire the Beauty Of A monument" Time Travel For Her Becomes So Easy Witnessing The Ruins Of The Monument .  Location: British Residency The lives, the conditions, and the state of the people are far from the reality told or better known to us.  Is it just a door? Or an Escape. A connector? Or a Buffoon Trap. The surrounding of the British Residency is an area with lush greenery and pleasant views.  The marks of the Bullets and the Canon Balls, along with the ruins of the archaeological wonder gives way to so many unsaid stories. The Serene walk way in the British Residency is no less than a bliss.  Check out the other The Speaking Eye here!

SLOW - The Pillars Of Life

Image
The geometrical pattern and depth this picture presents is something that fascinates. On every such occasion, the intriguing thought leads to imprint them on my lenses. Pathways with pillars on either side curved with textured and painted boundaries having echoed voices from travelers evoke sheer infatuation. Let judgment be bygone in the depth of truth. Rajasthan, a unique land in many ways is also a home to Mahavir J i , a Jain pilgrimage. In the name of the Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara (enlightened soul), the temple was built around the 18th century in the bank of the lost river. Amazement surrounds you as you walk past the passage on the backside of the temple with sharp, creative, and imaginative carving in each corner. Although in real world path leads to a few shops famous for “Rajasthani Handloom” and “Raksha Potlis”, it led me to the parallel world. Change is the only mathematical constant. It was just a matter of a year when the front of the cameras was my fascination a

SLOW - Capturing The Streets

Non-residents of Lucknow are having lunch in a much better fashion than many of us hanging around the Puri-Sabjhi hawkers across the city. Does this speak of our culture and importance of healthy meal and decent style?   Well, I happened to capture this artistic steel in which 3 women, (actually, I should call them business women) are having their lunch outside their makeshift store in Charbagh. Indeed, the image belongs to Tibetan Market of winter wear in Charbagh , Lucknow.   Sheer hard work, sweating struggle in convincing the Lucknowites for their products, and amazingly logical selling pitch, all was jaw-dropping and truly transforming for me. “Ilahi mera jee aaye aaye” (The desires of my heart lie, my God) was playing in the back of my mind when I got my bike out to indulge in some street photography gig. When I returned, my mind was playing, “Robaroooo roshani...hai…!!! (I'm face to face with light).   To each his own. Wondering how the beholder in you would percei

SLOW - “Kesariya Balam Padhaaro Mhare Des”

The oasis, aura, people, and dialect is the real essence of Rajasthan. From the enchanting folk music in the desert send to the harmonious handicrafts made in the huts, Rajasthan symbolizes the perfect in the breathless enthrallment in every iota. With a first footstep, I had foothold in the city of forts, Jodhpur. Welcomed by the light breeze murmured something magical in a language that only we both could assimilate and wordless pronouncement only I could feel. The second step made me see the blissful colors perfectly amalgamated and forming a bevy of becomings. The reason I chose this image to be the Spotlight of the day (SLOW) is the magnificence and splendor the city has to offer in a single frame. Sometimes, it made me realize the mystery, sometimes, narrates me the stories of centuries, and showcases a bioscope of royalty. Time traveling was possible yet again, this time, in the era of Rajputs.

Rajasthan Travel Diary - From Dawn to Dusk Life Rhymes In Colors, Culture, Carvings, and Curiosity

For blind, the sun is the only visible cosmic element in #Rajasthan. The beauty beholder embraces the hues, the energy, the enthusiasm, and the liveliness of Marwadis. Location: Bikaner The nuance that sculptures, carvings, and artistic sense the architectures of Rajasthan add to the idea of India is mesmerizing and inspiring.  Location: Jodhpur Call it a desert, but it's more vivacious and colorful than the breathing graveyards. The palaces, the Havelis, the kothis and their texture, design, carvings, and razor sharp cleft - all magnetizes beyond one understanding. Location Jaisalmer The land of sands has flamboyance in every particle that adds essence to the social fabrics and composition to be resided as it's core. Location: Barmer Happily self-contradictory Rajasthan is quite quintessential with fortified towns, majestic forts, and lakes in desert. Location: Udaipur Quite ironically, Hawa Mahal was built not let the fresh breeze in but to stop

Travel Photography Hacks For A Solo Girl Traveler

Image
“Hey Dad, can we travel somewhere, it's been days?” “No”, answered the father. The ‘could be solo girl traveler’ spent her vacations going to her friend's place, visiting nagging relatives, and sleeping at home. “Hey, any plans for the vacation?” “No yaar I am broke!”, “Neh bro, not this time, parents won’t agree!” and several other blah-blahs. Kiddin' me? Is it still for real that an Indian girl cannot travel solo? Does she need a company in her family or friends to travel and fulfill her wanderlust? Is it that hard to believe? *Phewww, stop Aanya; too many answerless questions.* No; but…..is that unimaginable? Well, the above conversations were the non-dramatic glimpse of the bygone days. The days when none or only a few girls enjoyed the privilege of traveling solo. However, today there is a Girl At The Window Seat in every 5th girl. I guess (Skeptically) all of you will understand that girls in India do travel solo, without the baggage of tagging a
