Truth or Dare : Solo Girl Travel

Image
Difficult times they are when a traveler isn't traveling. While I was thinking and preparing a checklist , bro jumped in, “Yaar, you are such a free spirit, must be feeling so nice, no?” “Umm..yaah..”, Until the question, I was sleeping on the checklist, but he wakes me up. “Feels nice”, his words started making rounds between the heart and the mind. However, normal, his question stuck in between. He is the one always fascinated with my Solo Traveling and Being a Wanderer.  “Why did he ask such a question?”, I questioned myself. He knows me well and my mindset, my opinions and is aware of the atmosphere around me as well. It took me little time but found out why little birdie asked me this. Well, it is because of me being a Solo “Girl” Traveler. I smirked at him. He looked at me as if he got to know my reply even without me uttering a word. Solo “Girl” Traveler - the point to the problem lies in here. It tells a lot about the global society we are. Interestingly, the most

SLOW - Evolution to Extinction

My recent visit to Agra Fort unearthed a mystery. Inadvertently, my brain was the spherical journey witnessing the unimaginable.  Were Mughal emperors accustomed to air conditioned rooms in their palace during summers? Air conditioning? In Mughal Era? Don't be surprised if my answer is as unimaginable as architecture in the Agra Fort. Mughals, through architectural enhancement, developed a mechanism that used to bring only cool air to their bedrooms. Strange? Maybe. What makes me choose this very picture as the “Spotlight of the Week” (SLOW), was the incredible era of art. Those minute detailing, those handmade carvings are the real essence of true craftsmanship. Talking about architectural excellence, Mughal Architecture mesmerizes you beyond imagination despite the fact that the whole architecture was built manually, and we, despite living in a technologically advanced era, are way too far from such excellence. Traveling has made me unleash such phenomenal architect

Mystical Yet Not Strange: My Walk Around In Agra

Image
Overdue but An Unplanned Agra Trip The dullness was evident as soon as I entered the home from my guitar class. Enthusiasm, without which, I can’t live, was missing around as neither mom nor bro were excited. I even asked myself a question, “what they should feel excited for?” I did not know but the reason was in the making. We three were expecting dad and clock was walking away irritating me as dad hasn't arrived yet. Went of the doorbell, and I jumped to open the door with excitement. Actually, I was expecting a smiling face of the dad. Instead, it was all exhaustion that embraced me. The calmness that followed absorbed all my excitement. The reason, which was in the making 15 minutes back hit the road block. Banged the doors of the refrigerator, sipped water from the bottle with my brain and heart constantly having a conversation about adding some colors of the unknown land this weekend. Impulsively pushed the door to the room in excitement, “Dad can we…..” within t

Take a Walk in and Around Fatehpur Sikri

Image
“Every time I visit an enigmatic architecture, I find myself perplexed, left with a hungry heart, a satisfied soul, and the eternal question- ‘What next?’ ” Anecdote: Only a person with pure soul can enter through one of the doors of Fatehpur Sikri. The story goes on that the door was opened for the entry of Pakistan Prime Minister Musharaf and his wife. He sprained hi ankle while climbing the stair. Later on his wife came to visit the tomb of Salim Chishti and seek forgiveness.  Each door might tell different story. These were the rooms made for the orphan kids who took education in the reign of Akbar.  Secret Door - "Surang": The door led to the army to Delhi, has many stories hidden. Anarkali is supposedly said to have released from this very door, with the orders of Akbar. Without letting the time affect their determination, these walls, these pillars, have seen more reality than ever inscribed by any historian or a traveler. The tomb of Salim C

Plan. Pack. Travel.

Image
Bonjour Les Amis, Nope, I am not packing for Paris as yet, although my packing list is ready. However, it is just that my fascination for the City of Lights has increased many fold in the last 24 hours. Paris, New York, or Rio - a corner in our soul is always tempted to define our whole being as a global traveler. Every morning when I see a global map hanging on the wall of my room, this temptation goes wild and weird. Something punches from within and pushes me to pack whatever comes in hand, put on the shoes, and move out of the breathing graveyard. But you know what, this blood rush often makes you forget things that are essential for you while you pull your backpack on your shoulders. When I was made to jump on a bus heading towards Sunauli on the way to Kathmandu , I realized a couple of things I could have packed.   Being a girl traveler, it is essential to have a list of things prepared well in advance to ensure you do not forget a single thing that could th

A Travel Yet Not Made: Navratri in Gujarat!

Image
Navratri. This is one of those festivals that I feel to have a mystic connection with. I wish I could ever express my deepest feeling to narrate what this festival means to me. Indeed, this festival has a special place in the heart of every Gujarati. I am not a Gujarati but for me, it has meaning that connects with my personality and character. The reason being a Mata Rani Bhakt (if you connect a spiritual aspect) and the other is that I often get engrossed in this ever enchanting environment and the enigmatic impact it leaves on me. Pure energy, sheer positivity, vividity of colors, and above all the fragrances that only I can smell. Besides anything else, Dandiya or Garba (or whatever way you pronounce) has different connotations. It is because the night long dance throws all negative vibes out and reincarnates the body, the mind, and the soul. I do not have answers to your where, how, and where, but the connection became natural to me in last few years. Every year thi

What's In My Travel Bag?

Image
Hello Readers, How are you? It's been long I have been posting on travel destination that one can escape to, my travel to-do lists and my travel stories! And let me tell you one thing, I haven't been posting since long as I was traveling to Nepal! You can read the blog on Nepal Trip here. And before that let me just get you an insight, what's in my travel bag! Whenever we are travelling it is very necessary to keep our travel bag ready. Travelers especially need to be careful about it. Either it is an impromptu escape or a well planned travel vacation, many time we forget to get some or the other basic necessity. Well, I have my own stories of forgetting my toothbrush (thankfully I was travelling with my family, so dad got me a new one!) , comb and hair ties many times. Imagine yourself in a new place and you are in search of such basic things. Huh! This not only spoils your mood but people traveling with you too! The abrupt need of things makes you ask f
